Abstract
Windtunnel test system for galloping of iced quad bundle conductor was designed and set up. The vertical and horizontal displacement responses, together with galloping traces of the iced conductor segment models were measured and recorded by means of displacement measurement equipment and computer data acquisition system. The galloping responses of two conductor segment models, respectively covered with the crescentshaped and sectorshaped ice model, under typical wind speed were obtained by means of windtunnel tests. The finite element models of the two test models were set up and their galloping responses were numerically simulated with the numerical simulation method for galloping of iced bundle conductors previously presented by the authors, and the agreement of the numerically determined displacement responses and galloping traces of the segment models and those obtained by the windtunnel tests justified the numerical simulation method. The results of the windtunnel test provided important data for the investigation on galloping of iced bundle conductors.
