Numerical investigation of different parameters on the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of the standard wind turbine model

  • The unsteady calculation modules based on the “TRIsonic Platform”(TRIP 3.0) are developed and applied to the standard wind turbine models with dynamic patched-grid and crossed-grid techniques. The influences of different parameters on the aerodynamic characteristics of the NREL Phase VI wind turbine model are analyzed, which includes different real time steps, turbulence models and grid methods on calculating the unsteady RANS equation. The SA/SST turbulence models, dual-time method, MUSCL-Roe scheme, multi-grid and massively parallel computation technique are adopted for the unsteady simulations. The numerical results show that the different real time steps, turbulence models and grid methods mainly affect the flow structure on the suction surface, further on the pressure distribution on the suction surface. The numerical results of the dynamic patched-grid technique combined with SA turbulence model are in good agreement with the experimental data.
