Automatic remeshing technique for structured grid based on grid framework

  • Structured meshes are widely utilized in the aircraft industry because they can efficiently achieve accurate solutions, especially for viscous flows with complex configurations. In a coupled multidisciplinary calculation, aircraft shapes can change dramatically, which poses great obstacles for the adaptive grid remeshing of structured meshes. In order to address this issue, we proposed an automatic remeshing technique for multi-block structured grid based on the mesh framework introduced by us. We first extract geometry information from existed multi-block structured meshes and construct a mesh framework for them, then generate new mesh lines with surface deformation information and spline curves, and finally automatically generate meshes with the new lines. We also proposed a data structure to decouple the relationship between grid elements and automate the remeshing process. The proposed technique has been adapted to apply the aeroelastic calculation for a certain wing-body combination. The results show that our proposed method can perform an automatic remeshing process for complex geometries.
