Abstract
To improve the lateral-directional stability of HTV-2 configuration, a new hypersonic vehicle HX analog configuration was proposed based on the biconic cross section design method and CST, and comprehensive and comparative analysis was conducted for them.The improvement effect on lateral-directional stability of HX analog configuration compared with HTV-2 and key aerodynamic parameter analysis of winglets on both sides was conducted by orthogonal design. Moreover, matching design of the tail control-flaps was performed. The results indicate that HX analog configuration has achieved significant improvement on the lateral-directional stability over the HTV-2 and maintained high lift-to-drag ratio at the same time, and the performance has high positive correlation with the height and area of the winglets but is not sensitive to the change of installation angle at small angles. This proposed configuration has high control efficiency and reasonable trim angle of attack range and can be one of feasible hypersonic vehicle choices in the future.
