Transition prediction eN method and its software development for supersonic boundary layers

  • Research status of boundary layer transition prediction is reviewed at first; the advantages and disadvantages of the present three kinds of boundary layer transition prediction methods are summarized; from the aspects of theoretical and engineering application, the shortcomings of existing transition prediction eN method and its transition prediction software are emphatically analyzed, and the development trend of the future transition prediction method and its software is forecasted; then from the point of view of engineering application, an implementation approach of engineering oriented transition prediction software based on transition prediction eN method for supersonic boundary layer is put forward. By continuously improving and perfecting the traditional transition prediction eN method, combining with the experience of flow stability analysis and transition engineering application, setting up a series of knowledge databases of eigenvalue, receptivity coefficient and transition criterion, it is expected to develop a practical, fully automatic, highly efficient, friendly user interface and engineering oriented software of transition prediction for supersonic boundary layers.
