Research on validation and verification of Chinese transport model CHN-T1

  • Chinese transport model CHN-T1 is provided by the first aviation CFD credibility seminar in China. 3D flow simulations were accomplished with the unstructured hybrid grids and the flow solver CARIA-OVERSET for the validation and verification study of the CHN-T1. The effects of mesh type, mesh size, and turbulence model were studied on the overall aerodynamic characteristics, flow field characteristics, pressure distribution. It is shown that the numerical results are in good agreement with the wind tunnel test data. Under the condition of fixed lift, the grid scale error of unstructured grids is larger than that of structured grids. Turbulence model has great impact on pitch moment, while weak influence on the separation characteristics at wing-body junction with support configuration, the lift and the pitch down moment of the CHN-T1 model increase, while drag decreases. In consideration of the aeroelastic deformation, the lift, the drag and pitch down moment decrease. The results with full turbulence model and free transition model are different, but the difference decreases with increasing Reynolds number.
