Abstract:
The turbine powered simulator (TPS) testing technique is the prime choice for simulation of reverse thrust of engines in wind tunnel. The purposes of the reverse thrust test are to obtain the impact of reverse thrust on the aircraft aerodynamics property and determine the re-ingestion velocity. To meet the needs of testing technique of large aircraft, CARDC built up a testing technique to simulate the reverse thrust of engines with turbine powered simulators (TPS), the beam balance, air bridge, mass flow controlling units, surveillance and alarm system, data processing system and integrated display system were developed, and the similarity criterion, testing procedure and methods were formulated as well. The first domestic low speed reverse thrust test with whole model was carried out in the 8m×6m Wind Tunnel. The test investigates the reverse property of an aircraft and gain re-ingestion velocity, and test results indicated that re-ingestion velocity of the aircraft is around 48m/s.
