Abstract:
Synthetic jet is a new active control technology, and it is light, small, without additional gas source, etc. In this paper, the analyses are conducted by numerical simulation on the effect of starting performance about a synthetic jet actuator acting on a hypersonic inlet and the working process of the inlet acting on the synthetic jet actuator. The results show that the synthetic jet can improve the starting performance. This improvement is achieved by the synthetic jet with the suppression of the combination of the separating boundary layer of isolator and the separating boundary layer of inner compression section, resulting in that a large separation zone cannot be rapidly formed and an improved starting performance of the inlet. The significant changes in the pressure of the inlet during the operation lead to a large load on one side of the synthetic jet actuator diaphragm. This is an urgent problem of the technology on the flow-control to actually apply on supersonic/hypersonic actuators.
