Abstract:
Integrated test and evaluation (IT&E) is an approach to support system development from three dimensions:subsystem, development process, and research methods. It can improve test efficiency, shorten development cycle, cut down test cost, and reduce test risk. Firstly, this paper reviews the development history of integrated test and evaluation concept, and demonstrates how the concept is applied to the development of an aircraft system from a system of systems viewpoint. Then, the application of integrated test and evaluation in flight store separation and propulsion systems test project of AEDC, the development of hypersonic weapon system project of USAF, and the "Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration in the National Airspace System" project of NASA are introduced. Next, the relevant key technologies include test design, data management, modeling and simulation are analyzed except ground wind tunnel test and flight test, and the future development trend is prospected from four aspects:big data and artificial intelligence, high performance computing, system of systems, and human behavior modeling. Finally, the reasons why the United States can proposed the integrated test and evaluation concept firstly and successfully applied it to aircraft development are analyzed.
