Abstract:
On May 5, 2020, the vortex-induced vibration phenomenon of Humen Bridge caused by barrier walls aroused strong public concern. Starting with the mechanism of vortex-induced vibration formation, the sensitivity of vortex-induced vibration to attached components of bridge girder such as deflector, spoiler, maintenance rail, barrier and suspender is illustrated in turn to prove the rationality of large-amplitude vibration of Humen Bridge caused by small size barrier walls. This paper introduces the wind environment characteristics, involving incoming wind angle of attack, turbulence intensity and wind speed, etc., and demonstrates the sensitivity of vortex-induced vibration to wind. The observed data about bridge damping ratio evolution with time is supplemented. The above reviews emphasize that the bridge structure vortex-induced vibration is caused by its parametric sensitivity, furtherly the bridge vortex-induced vibration control and power generation device not only suppress the vibration amplitude but also utilize the motion energy of vortex-induced vibration.
