Abstract:
The LHA ship was calculated by FLUENT. The CFD results were compared with the wind tunnel data and verified the accuracy of the numerical simulation. Flow fields under conditions of 0°and starboard 20°wind angles were calculated for the full size CVN ship. Velocity data along the flight path line were found and showed good agreement with the results of wind tunnel tests. The vortices separation from the bow, the periodic shedding of the deck center vortices, the strong superstructure vortices separation, and the interaction between deck vortices and their evolution were found through Isosurfaces of vorticity and two-dimensional streamlines. It is found that the overall size of the deck, the shape and location of the superstructure affect the intensity and location of the vortices behind the deck.
